Why looking after wellbeing is important
Wellbeing – being comfortable, healthy and happy at work
Wellbeing has been pushed up the agenda during COVID-19, and organisations are providing a range of initiatives to support Wellbeing in their businesses.
Enhanced EAP (Employer Assistance Programmes), training MHFA (Mental Health First Aiders) and Mental Health Training for Leaders, signposting to resources and support, a raft of Leadership development offerings focusing on resilience, change, leading in uncertainty (VUCA Leadership). All of which is great progress.
Research conducted by Deloitte in January 2020 measured the financial return achieved by employers who made investments in employee wellbeing programs. The findings are quite astonishing;
- Employers obtain an average return of £5 for every £1 invested in employee wellbeing programs
- The best returns come from interventions that are focused on prevention of stress-related illness or that are designed to build employee resilience
- Programs specifically dedicated to developing resilience were able to demonstrate a return on investment of up to £11 for every £1 spent
Do you know how the wellbeing of your employees is being met and how is it being measured? How much focus is there on building and maintaining a culture with psychological safety at its core?
What JLDS can do
- Measure your current employee wellbeing and develop your bespoke organisation wellbeing plan – we will give you practical tools and coaching support to supplement your current wellbeing strategy that will help to shift the dial
- Create a strategy to deliver a culture of psychological safety, so that it becomes ok in your organisation ‘not to be ok’ – working with you and your employees to unpick the current cultural behaviours which may be impacting on wellbeing and defining the tools and coaching practices required to change
- Provide coaching to your leaders to help them build confidence and ask meaningful wellbeing questions – providing practical guidance and support for leaders as they move towards new behaviours designed to improve employees wellbeing
How we do it
I’m not a management consultant. I like to work with you as part of your team. I roll my sleeves up and work with you to solve the problem and help you to deliver the solution.
- I listen and interrogate to really understand your business challenges.
- I build you and your team’s confidence and skills as we go.
- I ‘coach by stealth’. Before you know it, you’ll be flying on your own!
